Tour the Brigade

Twelve acres, enclosed barracks, and an office you can walk into any time of day.

The Grounds

Can I look around The Pet Brigade before booking?

Yes, and no appointment is needed. Stop by The Pet Brigade's office any time of day for a tour. The grounds are kept immaculately clean and sit inside more than 12 acres, so there is room to walk and explore. The office also carries accessories, toys, specialty food and treats.

The office doubles as the shop and the check-in desk, so the first visit and the first stay start in the same place, and you can pick up food, treats, toys and accessories while you are there.

A tour is the fastest way to answer the questions a website cannot. Several families a month ask for one through the contact form; you do not need to.

State Of The Art

What makes the facility different from an ordinary kennel?

The Pet Brigade's barracks feature state-of-the-art kennel safety and cleanliness. Fresh air is pumped in continuously and isolation panels reduce noise and stress. Each kennel was custom built by the Horst Company, an industry leader in kennel systems, and the whole barracks is enclosed and temperature controlled year round.

Horst is an industry name rather than a nice-sounding one: the kennels were specified and built for this facility rather than bought off a shelf and made to fit.

Beds, blankets, treats and a warm room come as standard, and you are still welcome to bring bedding or toys from home. Routine and diet follow your pet rather than the building, and staff will make further adjustments if that is what settles them.

Visiting

What do visitors ask before they drive out?

Several families a month ask The Pet Brigade for a tour through the contact form when they do not need to, because the office takes walk-ins through the working day. The questions below cover what a visit involves, where the facility sits on JBLM, and what to bring for a multi-pet household.

Can I see the place before I book?

Yes. Stop by the office for a tour any time of day, no appointment needed. There is more on the tour page.

Where are you, and can I get to you?

04907 Pendleton Ave, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA 98433, on Joint Base Lewis-McChord itself, off Pendleton Avenue near the Lewis Army Museum. It is the only privately owned boarding facility on a military post in the United States. Access to the post is controlled by JBLM, not by the kennel, so if you do not hold a DoD ID, call the office before you drive out: (253) 912-4898.

I have three dogs. Can they board together, and do they get outside?

Yes to both. Family quarters are larger kennels for households with more than one pet, so dogs who live together can stay together. Every dog is outside for fresh air whenever they are not sleeping in their bunk, and the day includes community play time, walk time and, in summer, the pools.

Can you give my pet medication?

Yes, and there is no extra charge for it. Bring the medication in its own packaging with the dosing written down, and tell the office at drop off. Both owners are registered nurses, which is a large part of why the kennel is run the way it is.

Next Step

Come and see it.

The office is open through the working day. Bring the questions.
